The necklace I made today with the agate I purchased from the Big Nickel Gift Shop at Dynamic Earth in Sudbury. It was originally on a keychain but I had a different purpose in mind for this delicate teardrop of turquoise chalcedony, which is defined by the Free Dictionary as:
A type of quartz that has a waxy luster and varies from transparent to translucent. It is usually white, pale-blue, gray, brown, or black and is often found as a lining in cavities. Agate, flint, and onyx are forms of chalcedony.
